Heating....:-(

i bought a fiat bravo about a month ago and the heating is playing up. it just does not get hot!! i can occasionally get it hot if i put auto on but it doesn't really blow out very much. sometimes it blasts cold air out and some times blows a small amount of hot. does anyone have any ideas?? any help or advice would be great.

also my engine temperature gauge takes ages to get to the half way point. sometimes the needle just sits at the bottom after driving the car non stop for about an hour!! not sure if this is going to be linked.

Cheers Ed.

You need to make sure your coolant system is topped up and that there is no air in it, It could be very likely that the thermostat needs replacing. will cause all symptoms. If you do a search of the forum. This issue should come up. use key words like Thermostat, Bleeding, etc.. If not or you are unsure then come back :)

my thermstate is ****ed aswell i think, only ever shows 1/4 heat on the temp gauge even when i know it should be just under 1/2 way {after spirtid drive} and the heatings ****, change the thermo im 80% sure its this, im not too bothered about mine its just got to get me to work and back and around a occasional track

Worst case scenario is that your fuelling will be out. The car will over fuel thinking that the engine is cold. Basically it will be on cold start.

Try bleeding your coolant first before you mess with thermostat etc. I had trouble with a cold heater till i forced coolant around by blowing down expansion tank till it gushed from bleed valves.

thanks for your responses..... it is a Fiat 115 HLX. as far as i have noticed in the month i have had the car the coolant has not budged. but i will try bleeding etc to see if that helps, if not i will be back lol for more advice. thank you everyone.
