In the past few weeks the volume control in my Brava stereo has started to become erratic. It does the following when you move it.

You turn the volume down, but it will go up (sometimes in massive jumps, such as 10 to 21. makes you jump as well.)

Sometimes it just move one notch, however many times you turn it. e.g 14 then 15, then 14, then 15.

As you can imagine this is very annoying as you have adjust it very very very gently one notch at a time (thus trying to concentrate on the road as well) or in most cases stop & pull over to do it.

It appears the switch has become too sensitive, so is it a case of replacing the stereo??

It is the original stereo with the sony CD changer hooked up to it.

You could try cleaning the volume control with some electrical cleaner. Otherwise its a visit to an audio store for repair or replacement.

this is also a common problem with Blaupunkt stereos, particularly Grenoble and Lausanne models. this doesn't help. but at least you know youre not the only one who's been scared witless by the stereo suddenly blowing your eardrums off!

I'd suggest getting one from a scrappies

i had the same problem, all i used to do was hit the volume nob a few times and it was alright after that. But please remember what FIAT stands for! FIX IT AGAIN TOMMOROW
