Both clutch and gearbox are coming towards the end of their lives and in preparation for the now-postponed supercharger (now slated for 2009 when I get a new car), it's been suggested I fit something a little stronger. Someone suggested box from a Stilo 1.4 - is this five or six speed as I'd kinda like six speed for keeping the revs (and fuel costs) down on the motorway. And does anyone have any idea if it has the same kind of workings and fitment as the Brava one ie. how much effort will it take to fit, new mountings needed? Also suggested was clutch and flywheel from same car - slightly larger than what's there but should squeeze in - not sure how much space there is for it but judging by the rest of the engine bay (full of emptiness) it shouldn't be too much of a problem?

Gearboxes between the bravo and stilo are different visually and the six pack one will be longer and may affect the steering lock on your bravo [if it could be fitted at all] when fiat brought in the stilo they also uprated the design of many of the parts related to the transmission and clutch and also the engine ..they call them upgrades while we call them a pain in the bum..you should be able to get a box from a breakers for yours though must be still plenty of those still in circulation ? also it might be worth checking if the 16v punto MK2 might be compatible for what you need ..good old fiat parts sharing does come in handy some times..a PM to T14 might be worth your while in this case..good luck (y)

when the greek guys turbo'd their stilos didnt they fit a punto GT turbo box?

Yes they did that Dan and even that isnt straight forward either.. another issue with the swap could also be the position and location in the two boxes of the starer motors..I thought about the six pack change over when I first came on fiat forum and found that the starter motor location is way different in the two boxes..

Hmmmmmm I am stuck :( I know others have had issues with the 1.2 Punto box going in the same way the 1.2 Bravo/a box and I really don't think it will be rated for the torque I need. I'd pick a box from a bigger Bravo/a but don't think any were six speed were they?
