Following from my earlier post this week re: rear brake pads i couldnt get the n/s done as the locking wheel nut was v.tight and resulted in the nut rounding (see pic below)

Been out to this just now to remove the other 3 locking nuts whilst the key is still working, no luck on this one even when forcing it home by hand with someone else attempting to un-do

This nut has a spinning head which i am assuming means i cant use the bash a socket onto the head option, what other options have i got to get this off myself?

Thanks

Hammer an (old!) screwdriver in between the nut and the spinning head, and remove it, then bash a socket on. Better still, if you know a friendly garage they should have a proper set of bashers for getting them off.

thanks steve,

so i hammer the screwdriver in between the gap you can see on the front face of the nut?

Yup do as this guy says

from the damage on the pic it is clear that the problem arose because the bolt's 3 teeth was less than half way into the holes. you can see that by the height of the damage in relation to the depth of the holes. i assume this happened because you couldnt push it on far enough. try hammering it on and see if it will work. keep pushing it onto the bolt as you try to turn it. also give it some WD40 20mins before you try.
