They're typically pretty reliable cars. Most important thing with a car of that age/mileage is does it drive well? If it does then you can worry about things like worn suspension arms, worn clutch, headgasket... just the usual bits to check really... rust or signs of repairs.

head gasket is the biggest issue on the 1.2. they also suffer from gearbox differential failure, and an erratic idle is also common. check for these things.

there should be 1 red key and 2 blue keys.

there are also a few faults common to all models., such as rear wash failure, rear wiper failure, basically anything electrical should be checked. make sure there is no sign of a sunroof leak (mouldy/stained roof lining).

any faults you find can be fixed, but you can use them to get the price down.

£550 isnt a bad price if everything works and it is in good condition, but i'm sure you could haggle down to £500.

hey went and had a look at that brava, its really nice just one problem though, when your in 3rd and 4th gear under load it judders, what do u suggest that is ? cheers

just thought id add its had the clutch done recently and new break pipes

Could be a worn clutch if it judders under power. Known as clutch slip. With that amount of miles and no clutch change i would expect the clutch to be well used and past it.

Also at that mileage I think its best to have the cambelt and aux belt changed if its not been recently done, as its at the mileage it should go.

its hard to say. if its misfiring under load then on the 1.2 it is often the leads, or a head gasket failure. it could also be a botched clutch change, or maybe the flywheel was buggered and they didnt nother resurfacing it during the clutch change.
