Hi,

I still need to replace my front screen. The problem: the new windscreens I found in the internet all have a green band above. As I'm rather tall and sitting rather high, I don't want to get the sky clouded by this green band... so I need an UNCOLORED front wind screen. Were to get one except Fiat original spare parts (which is 300 Euros or so)?

How to get one out of a scraped car? The problem is, mine cracked because I hit the border of the glass slightly with a screw driver, some microscopic particule of glass came off - and then, over night, and incredibly huge fissure developped from that, and is still spreading across the screen.

I learned that, to take out a screen, one uses a "cutting wire". This cutting wire should never touch the glas of the screen, right? Is it a good idea to try take out a screen from a scraped car using such a wire?

why are you looking for a screen on the internet? delivery would double the price, and fitting will cost a lot more if you dont buy your glass from the fitter.

i'm sure your local supplier will have a non-tinted version available.

Yeah Yeah a european version of autoglass or something. When i was looking around for cars there was one with a crack on the windscreen and the cheapest i got quoted was £90 fitted from 'screensavers'.

Why dont you go through your insurance, it'll cost between £50 - £75 excess for a new screen and wont affect your no claim bonus. However i do suggest you read your policys small print before doing so.
