Hiya, just need a bit of help really. Today i went out to replace the jack cable (AUX Cable) on my head unit. So as per usual i took the HU out and fet the lead up. After, i replaced the interior lights with blue LED ones, when i tested, they didnt work. Wen i put the ignition on the needles flickered then went down to 0. The trip computer also reset and i loose all my presets on my head unit. Its as though there is no memory or anything and it all resets?

One other thing is that i changed the head light bulbs a couple of days ago and stupidly left them on when i was sorting out my rear wiper. The battery went flat and i had to jump start it, could this be the cause? Any help would be apriciated, i can usually fix most things but this has got me.

Thanks
Andy

pfft.... got me on this one.

first thing i would do is take the AUX cable back out and see if it fixes the issue.....

you 'can' damage the ECU from jump starting but i've never seen it personally.

Ry
yeah iv just done that and nothing happens, its only a signal lead so it shuldnt cause the electronics to go mad. its like the link to the where the memory is stored is broke or sumin. Sum1 said it might be the battery but it starts fine. Do you think i should put the red-key in and reset the ecu?

LED's only work one way, so try them the other way.

headunit losing settings with ignition suggests you have caused a bad connection on the permanent live while playing behind the headunit.

All sorted now. It turned out it was cos of the interior light fuse
Anyways iv tried them both aways and it keeps popping the fuse, any ideas? Theyre not too powerful, only 1 watt compared to the standard ten watts. The led bulbs are fine cos i tried them with a seperate 12v battery.

if the LED's do not have resistors attached they will draw too much current, blowing the fuse.

can you post a pic of the LEDs you are using?

that type of LED has the resistor fitted inside so it should not pop the fuse.

does a regular bulb still make the fuse pop?

no the normal bulbs are perfectly fine which is y its so annoying. The seller also said he's never had the problem before.

obviously the LED is drawing more current than the fuse can take. that could be because the LED is faulty, or because the wrong rating fuse is used or because that type of LED isnt suitbale (not enough resistance) for the place you are using it. from the pic i can see that LED is only meant to be used for the interior light, is that where you are using it?

i would try increasing the resistance in the circuit.
