hello,

i thought it was called throttle position sensor but i went to shop to get a new one, they said according to the part number i gave them it is called idle control unit.

what is this called?

its both, which is why it needs a 7pin wiring connector.


i phoned to a second hand dealer and asked for idle control unit. she said there is none. then i asked for throttle position sensor. she said they have the whole throttle unit. it costs £45 plus vat.

what was she talking i did not get. what is the whole throttle unit?

the throttle body with the TPS & ISC attached.

before you spend any money, try the washer trick, if you use washers between the throtlebody and the TPS it usually fixes the idle problem.

you only need to remove the TPS. add a washer to all the bolts holding the TPS to the TB then refit it so there is a small gap between TPS and TB.
