HI every 1, i am new to your forum and a looking some 1 to help me out.
i have fiat brava on r reg 1.6 16 v for last past week i have notcied when trying to get up speed it struggles to get there it wont it over 6000 revs. i got my friend to look @ it and he check leads and plugs air pipes all seem ok!
he notcie when he took it for test drive he said sounds like its missing like coil ad gone down and struggled to hit top revs even took it on motoaway and took ages getting to 60 he siad there was no chance going into 5th gear it started to lose power.! (n) 1 more thing does it make a diffierents if petrol cap is missin i left @ the station . so he any 1 add or know about this . many thxs for your info:D

the petrol cap is sealed to prevent vapour entering the environment. go back and get it from the garage.

if a coil had failed it would only run on 2cylinders, that would be very rough indeed so i doubt it could be that.

on the 1.6 it is almost always a fuel injector. if you search there are hundreds of previous threads about it on the 1.6 engine, it is a very common problem.

a good injector will have more than 13ohms resistance. compare all 4 on your car to see if any have a noticably different resistance to the others. if any are lower than 13ohms, replace them with scrapyard injectors (£5-10) that you have also tested to see fi they are a suitable resistance (14-16.5ohms).

there are detailed guides explaining how to check the resistane of injectors with a multimeter, and also how to replace them. if your friend wants to diagnose your injector situaiton that would be very helpful info for him.
