99 Bravo 1.2 SX 80, FSH, 83000 on the clock, last service at 80000 12 months ago. Cam belt last done at 40000.

Picked up the motor a few weeks ago but have just started to notice when I put my foot down the car is not very responsive (very sluggish) through all gears. When I take my foot off there is a slight rattle/whisper coming from the engine (idle and driving).

Oil is black and I see no issues with the water at present, zero heat issues.

I have had a look through most of the other posts to see if this problem has come up before, there are a few instances of similar issues but I wanted to just refresh in hope someone may have a few ideas for me.

The car is booked in for a full service/cam belt/timing and tensioners next week. Which should throw up any problems - is there anything else I should ask the guys doing the service to check for, other than checking the water pump when the belt is off?

many thanks
