hi update on previous thread,my 2001 brava 1.2sx was broke by garage as they had put on head gasket the wrong the way round,{which they still deny}problem now is the cam shafts that were seized is their anyway to repair and unseize them or are they completley broke?if repairable how? and as the hydraulic lifters have just been placed in the boot can they go anywhere in the carrier or will they need replaced also ,can anyone suggest a good place to buy the valves that have been bent thanks

local motorfactor will supply valves cheaply.

by the time a camshaft seizes it is usually warped and has lobe wear. on inspection you may find yourself very lucky, but i would expect to need a new camshaft.

the lifters may be ok, they become noisey when dry but they usually survive so i would try to reuse them. on the other hand they dont cost much, so it might be a good idea to find a motorfactor who will supply a full head kit with all lifters/valves/gaskets and cam at a good price, if you buy all that at once you shoudl be able to get a good discount, and then you'll have a fully reconditioned head with a nice receipt to show the next owner, adding value to the car.

on the other hand, the cheapest option is to get a scrapyard head for £70 and fit it. (y)

kick up a fuss with the garage that killed your head, they should be fitting the next one for free. if they refuse i would tell them you are seeking legal advice.
