ok so i really badly need a new bonnet asap due to some bad dents and nationals is only weeks away, will a brava bonnet fit due to the colour of my car being easy to find in a brava but not bravo and is it a pain to replace?? thanks alot

yes, a Brava bonnet will fit! Open the bonnet, disconnect the washer jet hoses and there are a few bolts that need to be undone! You will need another person to hold and lift it off with you! And will need a bit of tinkering to get the new bonnet to line up!!

Bravo - brava and Marea bonnets are all the same.

To fit is dead easy.
1 Lift bonnet and disconnect the washer jet water pipe.

2 Where the hinge attaches to the underside of the bonnet there are 2x 13mm bolts (I think they are 13mm) on each hinge :)

3 have someone to help lift the bonnet off as when you undo the bolts there wont be much to support it, and you don't want to scratch the wing edges. ;)

hope this helps :)

ha ha Klemster, great minds think alike :D

Jake, before removing the old bonnet, where the hinges are against the underside of the bonnet draw around the hinge on the underside of the bonnet with a marker pen or tipex. This will allow you to reallign the bonnet (y)

Whats your colour code Jake, if I see one in my local salvage yard then I will notify you.
brill but what do mean colour code??
i knows it lichen green if that helps, all of the salvage yards around me have them but it totally the wrong colour, a sprayers quoted me 130 without vat which i didnt think was too bad to be fair??

bit pricey. £100 inc vat would be a ball park figure.

Paint code is a code used by sprayers to identify the paint.
the code tells someone mixing the paint from scratch what is needed. As in if a mixer has the code they could mix the paint from it without seeing the car.

will be on the boot lid or boot lid surround area..

well iv know bought a new bonnet for £30 quid its in the dark purpley colour, gonna have to get it sprayed i just couldnt find the lichen green anywhere, sprayer quoted me around £150 inc vat....does that sound about right, its the first thing iv ever had to get sprayed before?? thanks

i know the price of paint has gone up a lot over the last 2 years, but i would still say £150 is expensive. get a dozen quotes before you decide what a fair price is.

whooooooooooooooops

meant to put £30 for half a litre. This should just do it though.
maybe your chap budgeted for an entire litre.

Jake.

Make sure you find a good sprayer. Spraying is a lot more difficult than people realise and the quality of paint and expertise of the sprayer will all be evident in the finish. (y)

cheers bridges
