try flushing gearbox box oil and replace with new.

If that don't work its knackered and new gearbox time

ok will do, i have been looking on the forum and people with a similiar problem said there problem could be gearbox linkage. what do you think?

possible im not familiar with the 1.8

if it is only 4th then the problem is the synchromesh on 4th gear, so you need a scrapyard gearbox. the 1.8box is very prone to synchromesh problems, my 1.8 bravo had it, my current alfa has it (same box)
