Try the cut off switch under the passengers seat. Also have a look and see if you can hear the fuel pump working when you turn the key once.

thanks i will have a look in the morning. why would it be the cut off swith.. it has to have a bang doesnt it.

firstly, does the key (code) light go off ?. If so, is there any sign of exhaust smoke when cranking ?. If not, check for diesel at the top of the filter (loosen the bleed screw and squeeze the hand pump on the fuel line a few times - you should get diesel from the bleed screw). If it takes a while to get diesel to the filter, there may be a small leak somewhere causing an air lock, and allowing the diesel to flow back to the tank. also, there is no in-tank electric fuel pump in the TD100 (not in any I've seen anyway), the injector pump pulls the diesel from the tank.

If there is diesel at the bleed screw, take the engine cover off, and listen closely to the injector pump while someone turns on the ignition. you should hear a click and then a buzzing sound.. check all this and report your findings :)

update..... the car bump starts but wont fire if using starter. the engine turns over.... i think its the glow plugs. am i right.....22 quid for 4.

try a different battery first, a week on holiday followed by a starting problem is usually the battery, and since your car bump starts the battery is even more likely.

a glow plug problem would keep the light switched on, so i would not expect there to be a glow plug problem.
