Hi folks, I'v aquired a 2000 model Bravo 1.2 16 valve with a blown head gasket, I'v been poking around below the bonnet tonight & need to ask a few questions...I hope you guys can help!:)

1-the rocker cover appears to have removeable alloy caps on it, are the cylinder head bolts below these? & does the rocker cover have to be removed?

2- where are the timing marks to be found?

Any other pointers(like a step by step guide...lol) will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx in advance....Harry.

So...can the head, cams & rocker cover be lifted off as a single unit??...Is that why it has those access holes in the rocker cover?

untill it goes on the new engine? lol

im just gonna do a temp fix on my hg,as the engine is on 102k now anyway

so my plan is to find another engine and get it all done with the timing belt water pump etc then it should be good, well for as long as i own the car anyway

Errrr.....Its just a gasket I want to change, not do a flamin' engine transplant!!
exactly, its nothing to get excited about, and doesnt cost very much, so there really is no need to waste time and money replacing the engine. besides a used 1.2 engine could easily have a head gasket problem when you buy it or soon after, if you replace your head gasket you know its good for a few years.
