Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

So I have a little prezzie from France, can you guess what it is?

It is a right hand rear cluster with a reverse light, In good condition but did have 1 fairly deep scratch and a few scuffs.

So feeling adventurous I decided to try sanding the entire lens (its made of plastic). Starting with 400 grit then 800 then finished with 1200 wet, at this point the lens is fairly useless still fogged up. So finally I buffed it out with rubbing compound. After the first few passes it feels smooth but not totally clear but after some enthusiastic rubbing it is now totally clear and as good as new :D

Tonight im painting the edge of the lens where mould builds up on the inside. I will post pictures of the final article tomorrow morning.

Then ill post pictures of my left lens during sanding.

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

Hey Joske
IT was £31.67 delivered. The chap quoted me €20 for postage, when i got it you could see on the lable postage cost €19.00 so postage was more than fair.

Just finnished painting it Matt black. Looks good cant wait to peel off the masking tomorrow :D

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

Looks good, one of the main reasons i never did this was that on a MK2 Bravo the rear lights are slightly more tinted than the MK1's and buying from abroad and looking at the listing pictures on auction sites its really hard to tell if your getting the right one. Most are MK1 lights i've seen on foreign sites.

Besides that it looks very good, any pics with it fitted on your car?

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

Ill try and get it fitted tonight if the weather is ok.

I noticed some Bravo's seemed to have slightly different colours on the lens, I always assumed that was a batch thing over the years of production. Mine seems ok from memory but to be honest I haven’t offered it up against my original.

I did that too, it looks a lot better (y)
It does :D At first i was just going to paint the inside of that lip black but then decided to do the outside too.

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

What oil do you guys thing I should putting in my Engine?

I have the Bravo 1.4 12V the one that gets glogged up with oil :p
It currently is loaded up with 10W40 Semi-synthetic.

Some people have advised 5w40 and I can understand there thinking. They are basing this on the known oil circulation issues with that engine model.

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

use 10w40 semi-synthetic.

5w40 is thinner when cold and the same viscosity when warm. there is no benefit to having lower viscosity when cold, it will drop the oil pressure making circulation to the cam even worse when the engine is cold. the first few mins of cold running are critical so you really dont want to use the wrong oil.

the length and width of every oilway is carefully designed to suit a certain viscosity of oil. to make sure the oil pressure in your oil ways is correct you need the correct viscosity of oil. always use the recommended grade.

the only problem with the 1.4 is blockages in the oil ways. you deal with that by regularly cleaning the oil bar and pickup pipe, and using plenty of engine flush at every oil change, and changing the oil regularly.

That helps a lot, gets confusing when everyone is telling you different things.

Small update im fitting it to my car tomorrow if the weather is ok along with a load of other stuff going on.

Im also going to run black silicone seal in the tiny gap between the clear plastic and black plastic on the lens. I noticed on my originals that mould gets in there, so while im refurbing it i may aswell do that. May aswell do my best first time arround (y)

Part number is 7779097 (FIAT) - 1U BRAVO BZ/DS (1995-1998)

Ill post pics tomorrow.

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

Can anyone tell me what this wire is in my engine bay? One wire is black the other is green and white. The plug is near the washer bottle in the left front corner. nothing is connected to it :p

I got a lot of stuff done this weekend as my girlfriend was away.

I fitted my European right side rear cluster part number 7779097 (FIAT) - 1U BRAVO BZ/DS (1995-1998).
It looks fantastic nice an symmetrical and a perfect match to my left cluster. I refurbished my left cluster and put that back on the car too. you can see in a pic where i sanded the lens. Then eventually polished it out.

I also got my rear fiat mudguards fitted, without them the spray at the back was just stupid.

I got a K&N panel air filter. Before fitting I was very very sceptical but I have to say the car feels a lot more positive. Im very pleased with it, well worth the money.

Every bit of trim plastic has a nice coating of Autoglym Bumper care, all the glass cleaned with Autoglym glass polish and all the door seals coated with Autoglym vinyl and rubber care. They vinyl and rubber care is fantastic it keeps those rubbers nice and soft.

Repaired the passenger door handle that didn’t close all the way when the door was shut. Greased all the greasy bits. Oh yeah and replaced the totally rusted screws on the scuttle panel and coated them in copper grease.

Also found a few broken bits. Looks like the passenger door card has been off before and is a total wreck. So I need a new one.

Re: My Bravo 1.4SX (New Front Wing)

Just had a thought are there any door cards with a grey/black one colour fabric. (mine are one of the crazy pattern's)

It may be better for me to replace all the door cards with something like that.

I know there are leather :p
