i have a hgt and was checkin the injectors the other day notice one had a split in the rubber that sits over the spark plug was wonderin if there was any performance ones available anywhere, or would coupe 20vt ones fit and add any performance and could these be fitted without reprogramming the ecu just yetthanks

the "rubber that sits over the spark plug" is a coil pack. there is a seperate coil on each spark plug. if one is damaged replace it. there are no upgrade coils available, nor are they needed because the stock coils are perfectly adequate and matched to the spark plugs.

are you talking about injectors or coils? your first post is very confusing, which kind of suggests you dont the what they are.

the 20vT injectors can only give you a benefit if you have modifed your enigne so much that it needs more fuel than the stock injectors can give, which would need at least a set of cams, but realistically they would need to be very aggressive cams to require different injectors. if you went for forced induction then you need the 20vT injectors, in all other cases there is no need, you just remap the ecu to increase the fueling on the stock injectors instead, this works better than 20vT injectors.

Yes no need for bigger injectors.

Modern engines run an air fuel ratio of 14.7 to 1

This means 14.7 units of air that are going through your airfilter and into a cylinder need only 1 part of fuel squirted into the cylinder by the injector.

This is the ideal mix of oxygen and fuel so that once ignited by the spark plug it causes the best most efficient explosion.

You have to keep this ratio the same in order for your car to run.
If you were to add a bigger injector it would make the balance say 14.7 parts air to 2 parts fuel. Hence your car would run rich and poor as there would be too much fuel.

Turbo's add much more air and so do superchargers. So do aggressive race cams.
If you added these to your car on their own then you would have too much air say a ratio of 20 parts air to 1 part fuel. As a result it would burn too hot and melt engine internals.

So you would need more fuel to get the ratio back to 14.7 to 1 hence why the 20vt has bigger injectors. (y)
