hello all new to the forum just bought myself a fairly well looked after 1.4 12v bravo but there is like a lil noise like sumthing is rattling and havent got a clue what it could be it sounds like my rear inner arches but checked them any ideas? cheers.

hi mate i have one of these cars this could be a number of things, could be the driveshaft when the seal is broken water gets into the oil and they seize and knock. also it could be one of the wishbone stabilisers i replace both of them there cheap and quick and easyfor a mechanic to fit.could also be a wheel bearing.nothing expensive to worry about just get it to a local garage. does it knock on full lock??

when does it rattle exactly? only when stationary? only when moving? both stationary and moving? only over bumps? only when you brake or accelerate? only when you turn left or right or both? only in a straight line? only when you rev the engine? when you roll the car with engine switched off?

where is the noise coming from? in front or behind or both? left or right side, or both?

does anything seem to affect the volume or frequency of the rattle, such as speed or temperature or anything at all?

I have a similar problem, that`s why I came to the forum. My problem occurs as the car is traveling and I turn right, it is like a door creaking open with a rumble over the right arch. searching I cannot find a specific I would be grateful for any guidance as to resolving the problem as it is due a service that I could bring forward if necessary

only when moving + only when turning right = offside CV joint

obviously there's no guarantee about that, but its the best place to start looking.

jug the noise is definately coming from the rear of the car either at the left or right arches sound like an inner arch rattling and it happens normally when i start off in a straight line and is not affected by speed etc. also one other thing is that yesterday when i got in my car and pulled away there was a louder rattling noise which sounded as if the boot was open but it wasnt. any ideas?

wiggle your brakes lines and exhaust under the rear of the car, see if they are catching on anything or if they have excessive play.
