Hello

I have had my Bravo 80 SX (T Reg) for some time now and not really had much problems with it until a few weeks ago when first I noticed that there was no water for my jets???

So.. I filled it back up but when I went to use them again, nothing? So again I check and its empty, final conclusion that there is a leak!!!

Did'nt really see it has important as I have been keeping a bottle of water in the car incase I need to clear the window screen... But then yesturday morning I notice that my heating is no longer working!!!!

All I get is cold air and with the really cold weather I find it really annoying to clear my windows in the morning.

I was told at work that I could put some cardboard behind the radiator, but will this work and where the hell is it?

Are these to problems linked and is there a way I can fix the problem my self, as I really cant afford to pay out for it to be fixed in the shop!

Many Thanks in Advance

Kalvin

Hello and welcome. The trick with the cardboard is for old cars and is not going to help. I suggest you to check the level of the antifreeze fluid for a head gasket problem because is common to 1.2 engines. You can also check for a HG problem if you look under the oil tap for any white foam. Also check your temp indicator inside the car and see the engines temp. Start the engine and let it warm up till the temp indicator reaches to the middle. Then have a run the car and see if the temp falls down from the middle. If so then you have a thermostat problem.

unfortunately head gasket is likely if coolant level has dropped. the 1242cc engine is prone to it. should cost approx £200 to repair.

Think that the water loss is reffering to his washer bottle
i know :) which is why i said "if coolant level has dropped", meaning it needs to be checked.

the windscreen washer problem is seperate, and usually due to one of the pipes been damaged or disconnected.

could his heater issue be a blocked heater matrix.
blocked heater matrix is very rare, head gasket leak is very common
