hi i have lost all of my keys for ym fiat bravo 1.2.

i am just wondering what the cheapest option is to get my car running again as i curently can not get into the car, never mind take the steerin lock off and drive it.

is there anyway that fiat can cut me a key for the car? if so how much does it cost and how long will it take?

is there anyway to take off the immobilizer so that i can just use a normal metal key that i can get cut from the door barrel?

or is just cheaper to buy a used ecu system and barrell, keys and lock, i can get all of these for roughly £80, but then im not sure how much it will cost to install these.

greatly appreciated if you can help as i have been off the road for a couple of days now, thanks.

Re: lost my bravo keys

Daves advice to your other Thread on this was the most secure. How did you lose your keys I cant imagine.... Mine NEVER leave my side (well my jeans pocket actually) (y)

you need the main ecu, the codebox (black box above interior fusebox), all lock barrels and keys; all from a matching donor car.

the alternative is to send your ecu away to be decoded so the immob no longer works. send a private message to reddy4bed, he can do it for you. then you would only need a key to open the doors and start the engine, for that you would still need a new set of locks and keys, but some specialists can cut a key from a lock barrel so you could give them one of your locks and gert keys made from that.

if you got your original key copied at timpsons for £20 you would have avoided all this hassle, just £20 and 10mins of your time. i really dont understand why people wait until after they have lost their keys, its so much easier before you lose them.

Jug, reading this post may be the answer to my potentially faulty ECU.

If I get an ECU from a scrap yard I am thinking it will not link with the code box that matches my keys etc and not start, so if I send the new ECU to reddy4bed it will now work but without the immobilizer function?

I think I am having to bite the bullet and replace the ECU, concerned my daughters first experience of Italian cars will scar her for life, even if all the crappy bits are made by zee Germans.

Cheers

If anyone needs any help in future i'm an auto locksmith so just visit my site. I cover the South East.

All i would say is avoid a Fiat dealer, who will just charge a lot of money for something that is relatively straight forward to fix.
