Hi all

I am just wondering if anybody knows how I would go about bypassing a Fiat Bravo Key Code Immobiliser. I have had an irritating intermittent fault where the key code light stays on and the car will not start. I have taken it to numerous garages including the main dealer (who fitted a new Code ECU)But the problem has not been sorted. I have spent alot of money so far and No-body seems to know what is wrong with it.

Is there any way of running a wire from the ignition direct to the starter, so that the immobiliser is cut out all together?

Best Regards,

Carl

That sounds good, But before I spend out more money I just wanted to see if I could rig a wire up to bypass it first.

If I have no joy with basic bypass would you be able to give me details of that place in wimbledon?

the only way too bypass a code system is too disconect the code ecu and replace the engine ecu with a new virgin unit, the code system is nothing too do with the starter, it imobilises the fuel injection and electronic ignition.

Thanks For That, Ive called them up and they want £250, But I have spoken to someone that can remap the ECU to cut out the Immobiliser for £50?

Will this do the same as buying a Virgin free running ECU?

With the P&P it works out at around £60

Has anyone ever had an ECU re-mapped with this similar problem? Im also having trouble finding The code ECU to unplug it?

Please Help!!!!

just got email from them its not £50 see below..
Good Morning Dave,
Thank you for your kind words and link to our site. I have just put a reciprocal link back (the link bar looks a green colour rather than yellow for some unknown reason!)
We shall be happy to help any of your members with advise or testing/rebuilding of their suspect units. The £50 price Dave is for our electonic components we piggyback into the unit to bypass the immobiliser circuits.
The standard work shop tarrif of 3 hours at £30 an hour plus £5 towards packaging and carriage back still needs to be applied. However all our returned units are warranted for 12 months and there is no VAT for our customers to pay. Not a bad price (£145) should you compare the price for a new unit and immobiliser.
Thanks again Dave and best regards,
from all at the ECU Doctor

Hi Everyone

I started questioning myself as soon as I posted £50, So i also emailed ECU doctor, they put me right, From their email to me it looked as though it was £30 for the labour and the other costs were parts and P&P. But I misunderstood!!

Appologies!!

I'm still looking for the Immobiliser unit in my bravo, does anyone have any ideas?

Hiya i have a 1998 Fiat bravo diesel i recently had the engine changed cus my old one blew up. put the new one in went to start it and the orange light with a key came up on the dash i think it is the immobiliser. The car turns over but wont start, which is what makes me think Immobiliser. where can i find the immobiliser plug?

when you change a TD engine you need to take the immob chip from your old engine's injector fuel pump, and fit it to the new one.

there is a previous thread about this but i cant find it at the minute.
