Recently my bravo 1.4 sx once warm the oil pressure light flashes when the car is idling and goes off as soon as any revs are applied. i recently changed the oil to see if this solves it - even used engine flush to try and clean out the engine. I know 1.4s are prone to oil blockages. Should i change the oil pump or is there anything else i should try first. if it helps the car is sounding a little tappy like the tappets aren't adjusting properly. Please help!!:worship:

Did you change the filter as well ?. It could be a blocked filter, a worn oil pump, wrong grade of oil or a badly worn engine. or the oil light switch could have changed its switching point. check the oil pressure using a proper guage, a good garage should be able to do this. If its still too low when idling hot, try a new filter and thicker grade of oil, and if that fails things start to get expensive..

yep brand new filter and oil is 10w/40 semi synthetic - engine has only 76000 miles. what do you mean the oil light switch changing its switching point?

simple answer is its not switching at the correct pressure. easiest way to check this is to replace it - you should be able to get one easily at a scrappies. If it still flashes, get a pressure gauge and see what its actually reading - at idle and when revved up. Another possible problem is a relief valve stuck open on the pump..
