I have a Brava 1.4 12v sx and I am shocked at the poor fuel economy. Is there something wrong with my car or is it just so bad!! I am getting 70 miles tops from a tenner round town,my old seat ibiza claimed to have the exact economy yet did 100 miles for a tenner round town. Please help its driving me nuts!! Plus I have a petrol smell when I open the window or sunroof any ideas? Im new to this forum,I love the look of the car with my wolfrace alloys it looks the nuts but it dissapoints in so many areas. The rear wipers broke, passenger window wont open, clutch slave cylinder had to be replaced, new bearing on front right wheel(think its gone again),glove box wont shut, knocking noise when accelerating or braking, hand break needs adjusting, injection light keeps coming on,I also have leaks under the car, dont know whether its gearbox oil, petrol or engine oil,and ive only had it 6 months, help please!!

Oh dear! http://www.bravo-guide.co.uk will assist with some of your problems - or at least help you know what will also go wrong!
The fuel economy is spot on though - the 1.4 is terrible! My 1.4 was only 1mpg better than my 2.0 HGT at a mere 23mpg. They are well known for this which is why the engine was dropped for the 1.2 on the mk2 cars.

cheers Nige, that puts my mind at rest.At least I know its not my driving style or a fault with the car.I really cant understand why this 1.4 is so uneconomical?I thought it being a 12v would make it more frugal. Its so frustrating to think I could drive a much faster car for similar economy.
