Master Cylinder went on the cluth the other day (had to limp the car to the garage)

but was told that the cost would depends on the location of the master cylinder. in the gear box or outside the gear box.

does anyone on here know of its location (so i can prepare myself for the cost)

thankyou :)

its outside the gearbox, very easy to get to, its under the battery. you can fit it yourslef in less than 30mins (or even sooner if you leave the battery tray in position and work around it). they cost £27 from your local motor factor, plus £3 for a bottle of dot4 brake fluid.

thats brilliant,

thanks mate.

i was in a rush on sat (away with work) so literaly dumped it at the garage to get them to sort it :)

i feel better now though :D

Isnt that the slave cylinder thats on top of the gearbox, and costs about £30?

yes, but i made the logical assumption that this issue was referring to the slave cylinder because you cant have the master cylinder inside the bell housing and the slave cylinder is a very common fault. if it really was the master cylinder that was suspected it would take a very retarded mechanic to question if it was inside the bell housing or not. :)
