This is the last thing on my list for the mot- the horn:bang: since ive brought the car it hasn't worked, ive wired up the horn straight to the battery and the horn works everytime so i no its no the horn its self. there on 2 wires on the horn purple and black and then another purple and black the same not connected tho tied up. the black is the earth and ive followed it and its earthed fine. but still dont work ive checked the fuse which is also fine. so took the air bag off the steering wheel to have a look took it apart and then reassembled it and it worked, until a couple of days later just stopped working for no reason. any ideas help much appreciated thanks(y)

take the airbag off, then bend the metal bracket at either side of the steering wheel outwards away from the wheel. refit the airbag and all should be well.

Remember to 1. switch off ignition 2. disconnect the battery or you'll end up with airbag warning light (at best)

i bent them and replaced the airbag but still no luck but when the horn hasnt been tried for a while then when i try it theres a buzzing noise coming from around the fuse box doesnt do it all the time

does the horn have a relay the only relay box i can find is next to the fuse box which has 4 prongs on it but 2 look burn could this be the problem thanks

sorry, i forgot to post a wiring diagram last night :bang:

there is a horn relay, it is E2 in the relay box in front of the driver's knee. if you have burnt pins i would think thats a very good sign that the relay has burnt out, a scrapyard relay will cost £2.

the first attachment shows you where everything is and what the numbers mean on both diagrams. the second attachment is the wiring diagram.

now i no that is the horn relay i just swapped it over with one from behind the glove box and still no luck any ideas would help loads

not all relays are the same, they often look the same, and have the same pins, but inside can be very different.

according to the wiring diagram fuse number 13 is for the horn. check it out.

also, on the diagram that shows locaitons you can see earthing point number9, check the condition if it, and then check that there is an earth at the connectors for the horns using a multimeter.

done it finally i worked out with relay it was at the back of the fuse box and replaced relay works fine theres just a clicking noise when the horn is opperated coming from the relay is that normal thanks for your help

Try to get a multimetre and see if 12V goes to the purple wire that goes to the horn when the horn of course is pressed! If you have 12V then try to earth the horn with a new cable to another place (negative to battery). If not luck again then i suggest to use the multimetre to see if the wire from the steer or from the relay is continious to the horn!Good luck!
