Hi,

Can anyone tell me where the diagnostic socket is on a 1.6 X Reg Brava SX?

I've found a plug underneath the fusebox, under the steering wheel - but the OBD2 code reader plug (that's supposed to work with the standard plugs) doesn't fit it properly.

I'm sure that the socket is found by removed the ashtray, although I might be wrong.

Help!

Thanks,

Darren

Thanks.

What do you mean by EOBD? And whereabouts in the engine bay - just by the fuse box area?

Cheers,

Darren

on 2001 models there is an obd2 connector, on all other models there are several 3 pin connectors. one for the main ecu, one for the airbag, one for the abs (if fitted). the location of each can vary dependong on age and model. on the 1.6 the most common place for the main ecu connector is attached to the fusebox cvoer in the engine bay.

to connect an obdII reader to a fiat 3pin plug you need 4 lengths of wire. use 3 lengths of wire to connect the 3 pin connector to the obd connector. also use 1 length of wire for power to the obd connector.

on the 16 pin obd2 connector use the following pins
4- chassis ground (connect to ground on 3 pin connector, or any good chassis earth)
5- signal ground (connect to black wire pin on 3 pin connector)
7- k line (connect to white wire pin on 3 pin connector)
16- 12vDC (connect to battery positive terminal)

Thanks.

i've got what looks like an obd2 connector underneath my fuses, right at the bottom.

my obd2 scanner doesn't fit on it though.

Hi mate ,just done mind.the plug is look straight under the steering wheel in the middle.its black with a cover on,so open the cover. it should be on its own and its a 16 pin connector.
