Got myself a nice new Alpine 9850RI.

I have some crap 6x5 speakers in the front i bought cheap. I want some better sound up front now... I see people reccomend a adaptor for 13cm speakers.

Looking around i can get some component speakers for about the £40 mark.

But there are already tweeters in the front. I need some advice.
Help me forum people! :slayer:

bin the 6x9s and the tweeters on your dash (or sell the 6x9s on ebay to someone less fotunate), and fit some components. you need a set of componets that come with a pair of tweeters (fit on your dash) a pair of 5.25" mids (fit in door using adapters) and a pair of passive crossovers (fit behind dash hidden away). if you want great sound for minimum cash i recommend either of these:

dont waste time and money of million watt no namer speakers, only go for good quality branded products like infinty and jbl.

Sorry i didnt mean 6x9s i ment 5x7s or what the origonal size was i cant quite remember.

How do you go about wiring the wire through the door. Come to think of it you wouldnt need to if i used the old wire but where is that?

the door connectors are the type that screw together, meaning to lay a new wire is a very big hassle, so its best to use the original wiring. one end of that wire is at the door speaker, chop that wire under the dash close to where it goes into the bodywork, attach one end to the crossover input, the other end to the mid output, and then lay a new wire to the tweeter form the crossover.
