Hi guy's and girls got a quick question here. I own a 1997 bravo hgt 20L20v with rear disc and pads. The problem is that when my handbrake is on when getting in and out of the car the back brakes make a creaking sound as if the handbrake is not fully applied properly. I can also push the car with the handbrake on. When putting the handbrake on it goes up to about the fourth click then stops. I have had a look at the pads and they seem fine plenty of life in them. Any ideas as to what it could be

Hi i have just checked that. All seem to be ok disconnected all ends. The cables slid in and out of there outer caseing with no problem.

Have you checked the handbrake mechanism on the rear caliper. Fiat's (in general), tend to become quite seized on the rear handbrake mechanism, particularly on disc/pads set up (like your HGT, Uno T, Coupe, etc).

See if you can give it a clean up, and then put some copper grease on the mechanism to keep it lubricated.

If that doesn't help, you may want to check if your rear pads are low?

:)
