Welcome I am new on the Forum. I have a Brave 1.4 12v These past three days I have encountered a problem. From time to time after using the brava and coming back to start it again after some time it does not start. Battery is no problem as it is new and the sound of the start is perfect. After trying it several times it starts. Or els if I go a bit down the road it starts on gear.
What could this be. I have my doubts if it could be anything to do with fuel.
Will mostly appreciate some help may be something needs cleaning and could do myself. Thanks.

You said you start up the car with gear?! DONT DO THAT AGAIN! You are going to destroy your catalyst! In new injection with catalyst cars dont start with gear! How many khmetres has the car on it?Be more spesific with informations about your problem.

It has 45000 km. I have also noticed that when I used to turn the key before I used to hear a sound and now not any more. could it be the fuel pump, that injects the petrol before it starts up? This happens when I drive the car for some time, but when I start switch it off and try it for a couple of times it starts normal.

Better explaination: It all started four days ago I arrived at the car wash and stopped the engine as I was waiting behind some other car when I came to start the engine tried it several times and then fired and worked normal but done it again before I left the car wash. All was ok onthe next day but then it done it again the following day. The same I turned the ignition key a couple of times and started. Yestarday I let it down hill just in case it happened again and it did and that is were I started it on gear ( which I will never do again) brought it home left it outside and did it again I started it on ignition ( before I say your e-mail) switched the engine off and on (All ok) and put into the garage. In the afternoon tried it a couple of times and it starts as normal. It seems that this is happening after a long run. Any ideas?

lambda sensor or crankshaft position sensor.

try replacing them with scrapyard sensors.

also try switching the ignition on for a few secs, then off and back on for a few secs, and then try to start.
