hi all

my temperature gauge keeps going up high when the engine is running just for a couple of minutes. ive tried getting the oil filler cap off but i havent got a clue how to take it off, its a bravo 1.6 sx, any ideas. i think my head gasket has gone but i cant find out until a take off the oil cap.

it isnt possible for the engine to get that hot in a couple of minutes, so i would think you have the very common temp gauge fault. bang your fist on the dash above the gauge, or fix it permanently using this guide: http://www.fiatboo.co.uk/photogal/guidepics/jumpingtempdial_2.pdf

Could also be air in the cooling system have you had any work done on the cooloing system recently, e.g thermostat radiator e.t.c?

If you had a head gasket problem a lot of symptoms will appear!Does your engine works like 3 kylinder?Does your parafly level decreases very often?Do you refill paraflu again and again?Check your oil tap for some white foam?If so then you propably have a head gasket problem.If not i advise you to check your thermostat, your coolant rad, fuses for coolant fan or as jug said your dash. Is a common problem to bravo/as the jumbing temp.Cheers!
