Hello Everybody!
I am new here in forum( not exactly new i 've been registered from March 2006 But this is the first time i am sending a thread) and i have a problem with my heater! You see i have read all the nearest threads about this problem byt nothing seems like my problem.I am going to be a little meticulous so i am going to apologise!
The problem is when i run the car and the temperature is in the middle of my car i put heat and in the begining i have nice warm air. After couple of kilometres the air starts to going cold!(I forgot to mention that I have 1,2 80 16V 1999 model with climatronic) Lets say the outside weather temp is 15 celcious: I put the heater temp of my car to 23celcious, I have warm air byt after a little the air going colder.I adjust the clima temp to 26 or higher byt nothing. If only i put the clima to position HI the air going HOT and if i put the it to another lower level (ex.26celcious) feels warm byt after a little cold. I manage to figure out myself and i found the problem might be between 2 units. a) The temp potensiometre which i choose temp inside car or b) The mixture electrical actuator(unit that controls the angle of the flap).Does anyone known where is the ECU of the Clima? Is it easy to reach it or i need to unscrew a lot of screws? I need to do some mesaurements!Doen anyone had any similar problem?:bang:
P.S. I have made the diagnostic with display msg "clima err" but i didnt had any fault! The result was 00.
P.S.2 I m sorry for all this encyclopaedia! cheers!

climate control will automatically reduce the temperature of the air after a few minutes, it is supposed to do that to maintain a constant temperature. in winter it would stay warm for longer and more often.

in your example you said the outside weather temp is 15C, that has nothing to do with the climate control, it compares your setting to the internal temperature. if you choose 23C it will stop blowing hot air once that temperature is achieved inside the car. if hot air kept blowing it would get over 23C, which would show the climate control was faulty, in your car it is working fine and doing exactly what it should. there is no fault.

The outside temp of 15C i mention it for ex. for cold weather! The problem is i dont have the climate to auto so if i choose 23C the car will stop blowing air when this temp will be achieved inside the cabin, but i have it to manual and the cabin is not getting the temp of 23C. I assume if i want manualy 23C it is going to blow warm air stable for as much as i want untill i close the heater?! That i dont have.Somebody told me that the mechanism that controls the flap for how hot air or cold air passes failed and works like only HI or LOW.Anyone any experience?I have attach 2 pics maybe found useful!
Cheers!

you are correect, with climate control switched off the hot air should stay hot.

it sounds like the problem is the climate controls remains switched on if you try to switch it off.

if the air mixture flap was the problem you wouldnt notice the hot air going cold after a certain amount of time, it would remain the same temperature if the flap was stuck or change hot/cold randomly if the flap was loose, so i doubt your problem is the flap.

I 've unscrewed the mixture electric actuator which controls the flap for cold or hot air and i 've ended to some conclusions. When i put the temp knob to HI or LO the actuator turns fast to that position. In this case the actuator works fine. When i have the temp to LO and i increase the temp the actuator is dead and only when the temp gets to HI the actuator works BUT when i have to HI and i decrease the temp the actuator works step by step to decrease the angle of the flap thing that is right BUT it doesnt stop in the corrrect position but goes step by step not fast to the position LO.For example if i have to HI and i decrease the knob to 26C the actuator works step by step byt it doesnt stop to the position 26C(which position is not completely close hot air or cold is an intermediary situation)the actuator goes and goes until it stops to the last position which is LO.:bang: :bang:
What the Hack is going on? Isnt weird though?Any suggestions?Does anyone know how to remove the knob with the temp(potensiometre) not only the facia?Cheers!

Hey there,

Maybe opening an old topic but I have the exact problem with my heater as you have/had. Did you fix it already and how did you do it?

I am also wondering how to disassemble the temperature knob.

Greetings,

Bart
