as it says i'm wondering just how much power the 1.6 16v engine can be made to produce, at standard its obviously optimised for mid range torque but i wondered if anyone had any knowlage / experience of what the potential is

well as with any engine it depends on what you plan to spend.
are we talking plonk an air filter and back box ohn or do you intend to go for full engine work,turbo? and the costs to match.
think to keep in mind is the costs V the the 'off the shelf' HGT option

Your lucky, i've got 120mph on test track, love the noise it makes from 3500 when the rpm picks up again up mid range lag. 3rd gears best.

strange, only managed 120mph on the flat from my brava 1.6i 16v
and when i had a 1.4 306 i got 125mph easy.

120 here on my brava ELX 1.6. But that was with 4 people in and all the windows open and my stupid mate sticking his head out the window.


Oh on a test track also.....

As custard has mentioned - it just depends on how much you want to spend and how much gain you are expecting

shows how inaccurate dials can be unless driving down hill

ok i will rephrase the question.

what tuning parts are available for this engine and what horsepower will they release, i'm thinking of camshafts etc rather than just the bolt on mods
