What options do i have in regards to upgrading my central locking to remote central locking?

Can i get a kit from fiat inc a key with intergrated fob?

I know you can get lots of universal kits off ebay. the only ones that have really appeled to me are the ones with the VW style flip out key.
has anyone managed to get a fiat code chip in? and sucesfully get it to work?

Or will the only option to me be to get an aditional remote fob? this is a last resort as id rather have my key and fob in one unit.

if you want it to be inside your key you'll need to fit the full remote locking and alarm system from a donor, and have the remote keys from the same car. then you just swap the immob chips and key blanks over.

the other option that is far easier is the fiat remote upgrade kits, but you'll have a seperate remote. it is very easy to fit, it takes 2 mins.
the kit is made my meta, and it called m20.
Fiat charge £70. Part number: 46001190.
you can probably find it cheaper online, they used to go on ebay regularly for £30.

if i where to go for the donor option would it just be a case of getting the relay and remote reciever and keys from the donor car and then fitting the relay in the glovebox, reciever in interior light and going to fiat (or timsons if they dont those keys) and getting a new remote key cut?

also... what about a kit like this?

no, you need to fit the full alarm system because this is what controls the remote locking. consult the fiat manuals to see what components are involved, there are many.

the link you posted is no good, even if you could fit the immob chip inside that key, the blank can not be cut because it is the wrong shape.

This might sound really lazy, but if the car is 1.6 or more why not sell it and buy a HLX?

They don't cost any (or very little more) than the equivelant SX, and you get alloys, alarm, heated seats, spoiler, better seats, aircon, headlamp washers etc.

Just seems like a lot of work for remote locking... or you could find one of those META remote kits on eBay which you just swap with the CL relay.

i looked for a hlx and couldnt find one for a decent price.
i have a 1.6 sx
and just replaced suspension ad bought new wheels.

how much do you think id get for
1997 1.6 sx
88,000
cambelt done 12k ago
spark plugs done 8k ago
new springs and shocks 700miles ago
kei racing wheels 17" on toyo proxes 1k ago (prefer to sell on steel wheels though)

and how much would i be looking to pay for an equivelant hlx?

take your wheels off, sell it for £1000, use the money to buy a nice HLX and stick your wheels on. you get a free upgrade, and the small amount extra it costs for insurance is well worth it for the extra spec you get.

they all seem to be 1400+
ill keep looking. i want to swap my suspension over too so if i can i want to buy from a garage that will do px and swap bits over or wait til next month when ive got more money and buy the car then do the swaping myself then sell it. the later option is obviously going to cost me more in insurence though :\

EDIT: i asumme this is the meta kit i need?
works out at £30
i found a place in the uk that does them for £80.

but also found this i cant speak dutch and online translaters are awful! any1 know if that m20 kit comes with a remote with intergrated key?

cheers again. swapping to a hlx is a good upgrade but i need my car every day so its not a very realistic idea!

yes that m20 kit is what you need. on that dutch site i think the remote key pic is for illustration purposes only. the m20 kit comes with a seperate remotes as shown below.
