The exhaust and engine management will need changing, not sure about gearbox.

How many more are thinking of doing this! There are a few around but it will cost you £8,000 plus to have the job done properly. There was one for sale on ebay for £5k a few weeks ago after the guy spent £11,000 doing it.

As you can pick up a decent Coupe for £4k the idea of spending £11k on a retro-fit does seem a little silly.
Now where did I hear about Marea's fitted with 2.4l engines, Brazil wasn't it....
diesel mareas are 2.4l , the TD125.
as for the turbo conversion i have thought about this many times, i think its possible but the trickyist thing will be lack of space. ever looked under the bonnet of a coupe turbo?

i also think the coupe has a lower compression head and better crank/rods.
