Hi,

I'm interested in buying a bravo JTD but wanted to first find out if anyone could give me any pointers: the upsides and the downsides (if any) to the JTD.

What they're like to drive, reliability etc.

Any owners or former-owners, please give me your advice.

:slayer:

Thanks

Good reliability and economy, not as refined as the generation of common rail diesels that followed, probably better engines than the car IMO. More than powerful enough.

The engine is good (and tune-able if you're into that) and they are a relatively comfortable car, fab for the right price :) As far as the rest goes, it's the usual story, check the history and car over. Some (like me) are lucky and have one well looked after - others are not.

Thanks for the advice hels.

Just out of interest, is your brava tuned? I hear you can get them remapped to 160bhp!

I currently have a 1.9 jtd brava and a 2.4JTD marea the brava i think someone might correct me though but i beleive on a new clutch would only get to about 155bhp where if you could find the 2.4 engine that should be good for roughly 180Bhp :slayer:

Ive never owned a bravo JTD but have owned a Punto JTD and a Bravo (well 2 actually).

Make sure the bravo you are looking at is actually the JTD and no the TD. TD came in 75hp and 100hp specs. The JTD came in 105hp only (i believe).

The JTD is the remappable one. the TD is a similar engine but with a different management system so isnt quite as easily mappable. Plus its older and a little less refined, although still a good engine!

The JTD is reliable and a nice powerful engine. Very good economy and reasonably quiet too. very nice smooth running.

I would highly recommend one(y)

The Bravo JTD is a great car. Very good reliabiliy and economy, currently about 50mpg but can be more when driving economically and not for fun.

I would ask when the cam belt was last changed and don't worry if some part of the back window washer doesn't work, it's a common problem.

Good luck finding one (y) and good choice of car :D

Thanks for all the advice.

How long have you had your 2 JTD's bunny? Have you had any major problems with them?

I've had my Bravo for 18months.
I've had no major problems so far (touch wood). I've had to change the Cam belt but cost was roughly £250 with water pump done as well from my local Fiat specialist.
Rob has owned a marea 1.9 JTD and currently the 2.4 JTD. Both cars have had no problems.

Does anyone have a remapped bravo/brava JTD or even punto JTD? If so, would you recommend others like me to do it?

Thanks

Definately if you've got the money and a spare cash reserve for a new clutch i'd say go for it. It does feel like a completely different car and you'll be smiling all the time. The car becomes much faster, more responsive and i'll probably get slatted for this, much quicker to 80mph than a HGT. Even though the JTD plows like a train to 80mph the HGT is in its own league at this stage with it being in high revs an all. But the JTD should see you nicely to 130mph. :)

Is your JTD remapped Joske? If so, what 0-60 do you get out of it? If I get the car, and can afford to get the remap, I think I'll definitely get one if it is quicker to 80mph than a HGT.

:tempt:

Really impressive speed, can't wait to be doing abit of that myself lol. Hopefully a JTD pops up soon. Whereabouts are you in the UK?
