General Bravo JTD: Should I buy one?

get a hgt mate, better in everyway (apart from insurance) & tbh hardly noticed the difference in fuel consumption - went from 45mpg in the JTD to 35-40 in the HGT ...plus that engine note, im happy:D

Wouldn't mind a HGT, but being a young driver can't get insured on it. Only way to get similar performance is getting the JTD and remapping. Did you leave your JTD standard? Is the JTD noisy?

As far as I know the JTD isn't a long way behind the HGT for insurance, a few groups at most I believe. The JTD is a LOT quieter than a standard indirect injection diesel i.e. TD. Can be a bit chuggy when cold but they're pretty quick to get upto temp. Best of course is the low RPM at motorway speed - no manic wasps under the bonnet at 70!

We don't have either of our JTDs remapped yet due to Bunny needing a new clutch - but once that's done it seems inevitable that they will both be getting a +50ish remap.

I've found a Bravo JTD on autotrader. It's the 105SX version on a 2000 x plate, it's done 104,000 miles and come's in metallic black. In London, so only around 20 miles away from me.

If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know.

spending 2k on an SX spec model isnt something i would be willing to do, but it has had a clutch change which saves you a few quid, and i guess i need to consider london pricing issues as well.

2K is not a bad price, i paid for than that for mine, but then again mine only had 16k miles and was 2001 (y)
I have also noticed a JTD HLX for sale at The Hythe Car Centre, Colchester for the same cost. Is that too far to travel to for a look?

colchester is 265miles away. thats 4-5 hours depending on traffic.
i dont do long distance travel for cars, but a JTD HLX is a much better spec, so maybe its worth it.

The one in Colchester isn't bad, it's just the colour i'm not too keen on. After preferrably a black / dark blue. If I could knock the black one down somewhere around £1600, it could be the one :)

It's the fiat yellow (punto sporting colour). Yeah, you're right although the black one seems ok, good to hear its got a new clutch.

Considering on the site with the yellow one has most cars with listed mileage, I would presume it's high. The JTDs are good for it though, but the rest of the car isn't so good IMO.

Hmm, the black one has done 104,000 miles, new clutch and its a 2000 plate. For £1600 (approx) thumbs up, thumbs down?
