Came home from work today and when i pulled up i noticed a hissing sound coming from around the cam belt area?

Any ideas?

Water pump leaking. Dunno mate, need more info I'm sure.

sounds like a leak in the cooling system. hopefully not the water pump.

I dont think its a leak. Its a sound the belt is making. It never used to make it. Always used to me quiet from that area (everywhere else was noisy). I guess its nothing to worry about if its not a common problem. Ill have a look today.

oh you mean it makes the noise only with the einge running, i tohught you meant it hisses when you turn the engine off. you're right, a noisey belt is the most likley option if it hisses when the engine is running, aux belt is not covered so any noise is louder.

Yeh sorry when its running it makes the noise. Is it somthing to worry about as it never used to do it?

i'd be keen to find out what it was, a rubbing belt can snap, and it may indicate that something has moved (loose alternator for example)

Sorry forgot to post that i started it up yesterday and the sound has gone. It may have had somthing to do with the damp? I dont know but i did 70 miles yesterday no probs.

Maybe got wet if your undertray's gone walkies?

Indeed no undertray on mine, and it had been raining. Ahwell all fine now
