I basicly zoned off and rolled into someone at traffic lights. Was 5mph tops, no real momentum, was using no gas I don't really know what happened - last I remember was being way back then I was stopped.

Checked his car, bumper was fine, not even a scratch. Checked my front bumper, no damage.

Bloke said he would get it checked out before he claimed and if there was nothing wrong he would just let it go.

What im interested in knowing, is it possible to cause a large amount of damage from gently bumping into someone? The punto front bumper isnt particularly soft I know but it didnt crack or scratch and I would assume the plastic bumper would have broke if it was enough force to bend anything metal?

Also what is a relatively ample speed to cause damage at, I know you could probably do it at any speed but what speed does it normally happen at?

Also what would they need to have a solid case against me for whiplash? He was fine but his wife was moaning about something under her breath and pointing to her neck.

Any help is appriciated, a claim on my insurance chucks this 10.5 second fantastic little car straight out of my range.

Thanks!

My car was hit on the rear wheel a long time ago and looked fine I drove over this blokes bonnet because he was in the right lane going straight on and I was CORRECTLY in the left lane going right then left on a double roundabout. Google Map
I was heading in from the road at the north east end going right then left towards town.

Anyway he caught my back wheel and then my car went up onto the top of his front bumper then his bumper gave way and my cars rear crunched his bonnet bumper and smashed his light.

I looked at my car and the only damage as far as i could see was the wheel trim and a tiny dent. his car was a real mess. Nissan Bluebirds are strong. Masda 636s are weak. anyway I was in a hurry so pulled up and inspected his dammage and then mine. told him i was in a hurry and said its up to you I cant see anything wrong with mine. so you can just get yours fixed.

I left and rushed to town.

On the drive back I noticed a bit of a bumpy ride on the back and you guessed it he had snapped my rear shocks split the brake line and I had a large chunk of glass from his headlight wedged into the inside rim of my tyre.

Cost me a fortune it did.

taught me a lesson though. always make a claim if you dont know the person. and take everones insurance details. you can report the damage to your insurance company even if you dont want to make a claim so that if they dont get back to you you have already reported it.

I assume your shocks broke because your car was lifted up and dropped.

No phonecall from him at the moment - is the a set time limit before someone can put in a claim against you?

Also is there a set time limit before you can report personal injury like his wife?

Thanks!
