i have a mk1 fiat punto with damage to the bonnet slam panel and Front Cross Member can any 1 tell me how to replace them and where the welding is and is it a job i could do my self or not

it seems like if you have to ask... then no you wont be able to do it yourself.

not taking the mickey here by the way, get someone with prior knowledge and experience to do it.

hope you get it sorted(y)

i wanted 2 no how 2 do it to get a idea of how big a job it is ive priced the parts up and they dont cost that much and i now some 1 who can weld

It is well possible that if a cross member is bent, the legs it's attached to are pulled in, or down or up. An experienced crash repairer will see damage at a glance which is not obvious at all to the inexperienced.

Take a good look at the panel gaps, bonnet, doors wings etc. Replacing a slam panel is relatively easy, fetting everything to line up can be interesting.

Hi,

when I crashed my old punto I decided to fix it myself. its fairly easy just get some tin snips and cut the whole of the front end off. slam pannel, cross member etc... throw it all away!

the ba***rd is getting it all to line up! I didnt realy mind so welded it all up anyway! leaving a wonky bonnet, twisted wings! lol. never mind. This happend becouse I couldnt be botherd getting it jigged! well couldnt afford it.

it looked ok and drove ok, apart from the bonnet colour. I only fixed it so that I could part-ex it for a new punto sporting. I got £400 from richard cort fiat! Amazingly.:slayer:

have a look at my gallery for before & after!
