Shouldn't there be at least one "R" in there? :D
Let's just hope that it all works out in the end. I quite like the colour of Helz's car, and having seen it in the flesh, it looked really good.

Iv seen and read many an article on body repairs and when it comes down to that amount of rust the only way to beat it to some extent is by not using filler but lead All the old style body repairers use lead and mesh to fill places like wheel arches because over a short period of time as in your case Helz water and moisture affects the filler and it all starts bubbling back up a pointless and makeshift way of doing the repair in the first place but to them the cheapest option.

It's not that bad it needs either right now  When I say spots, I mean tiny spots you don't see unless you know where to look for them. I just don't want it to get that bad :)

Little spots now end up BIG spots later feel that you shouldnt have had this happening and it wouldnt have Had it been done correctly :) to many bodyshops get away with this kind of service well sorry but It just isnt good enough (n)

PNL, lead welding is frowned upon, as its supposed to be banned (poisoning fears).

LOL Chris you aint going to chew or lick the rear arches are you :p watch out Helx CW wants to bite your back end  :p

Rust is like Cancer, cut the whole lump out or it will come back.

Do you have fully comp insurance and legal cover??? ask them for advice.

All work from any Garage should have min 12mths warrenty. They do not have to give you another car by law but do have a duty to fix it. When fixed the 12mths warrenty should start again.

If you have reciepts then your covered. Small courts is £10 per every hundred claiming back. You could threaten them with that. Say the car may not match if re-spraying part of the car.

Good luck.

Good luck with getting it repaired properly. My Tipo is in on the 24th to have its rusty arches repaired by Ross Road Garage. They're a coach works and their quality of work is unbelievable. Getting the bad metal dug out back to good and then new put in. Should be done just in time for Brooklands. (y)

Helz,

Was the option of replacing with new metal discussed?

well the thread is barely 1.5 pages long so you could have looked ;)
most of the 1st page is about that

I've read it all, i can't see the bit that say's the bodyshop was prepared to fit metal arch's or even a suggestion that Helz considered it.

My point is rust will always return unless cut out.:(
