ok i got a bumper that im respraying

but

i prime it and do all the work spray the paint over nice and evenly let it dry looks nice now then apply lacquer a few layers nice and thin like it says on the tin

leave it............


and then when i go back the black paint is all dull


one of my mates say ur spose to put the lacquer on when the paint is wet so the shine stays but i just did what it says on the tin

any help with this one

You should only leave the paint to flash off (dry but not cure). Usually it takes 10-15 mins to dry. You should also have put more lacquer on, what it says on the tin is only a guideline. Usually after the top coat is dry you put 2 very wet coats on. I would suggest rubbing the bumper down again with some 1200grit wet & dry (do it wet obviously) then spray another 2 full coats on it. Unfortunately with spray cans you will never get a gun finish, it will always look more matt than it would if it was sprayed professionally because paint & lacquer from a can is so thin & weak!
