hey all

yes more questions :)

before when i respryed abit of the metal body work the paint went on fine but when appyling clear lacquer the paint went dul and not shiny like the rest of the body

any one point me to what was wrong and how to respray it so that the paint will shine like the metal work

cheers alll

Hi
Has the laquer gone a whiteish shade?if so this is called blooming it happens when there is moisture in the air,did you spray the parts outside?
Also did you let the black dry before applying he laquer?
I`ve had best results with black when i let the paint go hard (after about 4 days)then wet and dry the whole surface(1500 grit)keep the paper wet at all times,Then apply the laquer to the rubbed down paint(y)
Cheers

P.s If you follow my advice do a test piece first as i last painted black about 15 years ago lol

hehe cheers mate

well i think it was dry a mate did it we did it in a garage but was pushed for time,

but now i got use of a big double garage with jus my lil ol cinq in so will have plenty of time,

reason i ask is cos the are big cracks in the paint work around the petrol cap so i wanna strip it back and repaint it

Preparation is the key to a good finish, but even the pros will flat back and polish the laquer. Put plenty on, then 1500 or 2000 grit with soapy water then a cutting compound after that.

Soon get it looking like glass.

Cheers
