Hello from Florida!

’73 500 running into a few issues. Currently starts on first try with choke closed, run it for a few minutes and go to open it and it dies. Every time I hit the accelerator it dies as well. Seems like it’s getting air in from somewhere, but can’t seem to pinpoint it. Cleaned out the filter in the carb and checked for leaks but nada.

I’ve had a few problems over the past year and ~9 months ago replaced the spark plugs, points & condenser and wires. Also reset the timing. So, things seem to be good there.

I’m thinking it has to be something in the carb. Not skilled enough to rebuild it and everything shut right now. Question — currently there is a weber 24 IMB Carburetor stock, but cannot find a replacement for that anywhere. What is the difference between a 24 & a 26? For about $100 I can replace the entire thing if they’re interchangeable. (I read through the comments of the post below, but doesn't seem to answer my question. Or if you have any other thoughts!)

Sounds like an air leak or a blocked/partially blocked jet?
