Hello,

I'm new here!
I was hoping some of you in the know might be able to help.
It's a simple question which I think I know the answer to, but need to check.
I need to replace my driver side wiper arm. A while ago when driving down the M4 in torrential rain, I noticed the wipers weren't quite right. Then all of a sudden the driver side clipped the passenger side one, flipping it upside down. In the process, the driver one got bent.
They both still work, but I think it'll fail the MOT as it doesn't clear the windscreen as well any more.
I've bought a replacement arm and have found the cap and nut to undo to take it off. However, the arm won't budge! I think the bolt may be rusted on.
Does anyone know if this should just pull off easily? I don't want to force it and find I shouldn't have.
Am i missing a trick or do I need some:confusedone stronger/ WD40?!

Thanks

Hi,
and welcome to FF, :)
there are 2 issues there really, :(
it's a worn wiper mechanism ( under the wipers) that has allowed the 2 x woper arms to clash,
ideally you'll want to address this issue 1st,

the wiper arm is held on a "spline" ( a series of serrations),
undo the 13mm nut in the top,
soak a little WD40 into the visible shaft,
then lift the wiper arm up + down a bit ("rocking")the wiper should then free off and come loose, (y)
- you won't twist it off due to the serrations.., it needs to be jiggled :D
