Boot alterations!

Hi everyone
Just noticed that the closed boot seems to be out a little bit, rather than being flush?
I noticed there is a little rod type piece that pushes in & out when pressed by hand, it Is as though the boot tailgate needs to go down a few centimeters more.

You don't say what type of car you're referring to, but on many FIATs the boot mechanism is designed in such a way that there needs to be some free play when the boot is closed. If it is too tight, then it won't release properly.

If, with the boot/hatchback closed, it moves just a little when you press firmly down on the handle, all is as it should be. If it is completely rigid, it's too tightly adjusted and you may have problems with unlatching.
