My 99 Barchetta is in serious need of attention, a really good service, new hood and probably some rebuilding underneath where the scottish roadsalt has made its toll. Been off the road for some time and looking to get it back running. Been in touch with the DTR but the cost of transport will be prohibitive. Looking therefore for someone in Scotland, search so far has brought blanks!

hi,
I think you may have more luck asking for an independent specialist in Italian , or FIAT / ALFA,
as the technology will be common to quite a few cars,

Yes "restoring" is one way to put it!

I used CM Garage in East Kilbride to sort out the mechanical side of my Barchetta. Might push them over the edge if they get another one in so soon after mine though :D They do know their stuff. Give then a call and see what they say. You can say that I recommended them.

They have also done a bit of welding on my Lancia at MOT time but I wouldn't say they were specialist.

Can be quite an expensive mission dealing with rust on the floor pans on Barchettas.

When I got my Lancia restored it had a lot of structural welding as well as the usual bodywork stuff. I used Kenny Laird out Cambuslang direction. He is a top notch painter and he used another guy to do all the welding. That was four years ago and I am heading down to the New Forest this weekend for a Fiat Forum Panda get together. So their work has stood the test of time.

Good luck

Dave

Hi Dave, Charlie & lkc

Thanks for your replies, I'll get in touch with CM and see what they say. As you say they may be a little overwealmed ;) ... But it's worth a try!

Cheers

Peter
