I was involved in a three car shunt today. Not a lot of damage done, however the bumper on my Punto Evo will still need to be replaced. If I can get hold of a bumper from somewhere, is it something I can easily fit myself? How difficult is the old one to remove? Is there a guide somewhere which I can follow.

I'm quite confident with doing things like this, however I'm not mechanic, and if it requires any welding or such like, that's where it ends.

Also could anyone suggest where I might buy a replacement?

Thanks

Luke

If you were in a shunt then you may have to replace bent crash bars etc so unless you are willing to start doing that then I would take it to a professional tbh.
If you put a bumper over something that is bent from the first shunt then it may cause even more damage if it happened again to you or the other car/person/buggy/dog etc

Indeed a lot of modern cars have a crush bar hidden behind the bumper, which actually works like the old fashion chrome bumpers fitted to cars they crush to minimise damage to the body in low speed shunts (the plastic bumper is really only for decoration) you might have more to replace than just the plastic and if you don't know what it should look like then how do you know what's damaged.

Why not put it through the insurance co? Was it your fault?

Thanks for your help. There is very minimal damage, so I'm fairly sure it's just the plastic.

Just out of interest though, are these bumpers easy to put on and take off?

Cheers, Luke.

Cheers for that. It's the rear. Are the Grande Punto and Evo fairly similar when it comes to taking them on and off then?

Thanks, Luke.
