today me and mate colour coded my handles, went really well, laquered them with about 5-6 coats and now they have gone dull, would i be ok to use 1200 wet and dry to bring them back gloss? or what would be best?

12 - 1500 grit wet and dry.
Use it wet, not too firm and a cutting compound (sparingly) using a woolen buffer, then a good old polish.
