Hi
Has anyone got any idea where i get get a new engine and starter motor fitted (cheap)to my

y reg fiat 900e camper van

the old engine seized just after I bought it [V]

I have been told that its a fiat Panda/uno engine

is this true
would it need any modification if I bought an old engine from a panda?

anyone know a good place to get spares for my camper
(I need a few bits for the interior and a boot lid

thanks

TBH I can't add anything to what you've been told -
it's the same family of engine, and I would guess the fittings are the same as the 903 Panda/SEAT Marbella/UNO Start(?).
Beware these cars have other engine options too, which are less likely to fit.

It may be worth posting to

or searching here (if you post use a gash email account due to spam)

or even here..

Hi there,

Whilst the engines you have listed are basically the same 903cc brasilia unit, they differ in use fundamental way - they turn in the opposite direction to your 900E unit.

If you just want to find an engine and chuck it in, have a look for a Fiat 850 - if you find a Coupe or Sport then they have the same 903cc displacement but are fitted in addition with a twin choke weber downdraft carb and a four branch exhaust that make them breath more easily.

The 950 saloon used, as the name suggests, a smaller 850 unit which was used to power the eariler 850T campervan.

It is possible to adapt a 127 unit to turn in the correct direction but I am honestly not sure how much is involved in doing this. I've never had cause to resort to this as there are plenty of scrap engines available through the Amigo Friends club and the discussion board - http://groups.msn.com/amigofriends

Best of luck - hope you get motoring again soon.

PS. - You could always whack in a Twin Cam or Alfa Boxer motor!!

Kind Regards,

I actually stumbled across the forum searching the Internet for a gasket set for my 900E. This thread was about the only thing that came up in the search criteria so I thought I had better reply so someone else with the same problem as stated didn't end up fitting an engine that would give them one forwards gear and four reverses!!

I'm well into my Italian motors - even my none Italian stuff runns Italian carbs!!

Mainly into my Lancias but have had various Alfas/Fiats too. Currently running a Lancia Y10 and rebuilding my 900E camper (which is giving me plenty of practice at welding and shaping metal!!)

Anyway - hope being on here will help me and some other people too!

Kind Regards

Steve

PS - Anyone got a crank out of an Alfa 2.0 16v Twin Spark lying about? No? Didn't think so... :(

hi, somebody was saying that they had a fiat ducato that kept cutting out.well i had the same problem with a peugeot engine, which we left in the south of france for a month before being recovered home! the problem turned out to be the diaphram in the fuel filter housing! i bought a second hand fuel filter from a scrap yard for a fiver and it solved the problem. the person who told me about the problem said that you can get a hole in a brand new diaphram from the fiat factory! hope this helps.
