Just to point out that having a galvanised body won't make any difference as the mindless cretin's who've done this to your car could've gone through the galvanised coating as well. I hope you get the b*****ds! :dead:

I understood the way a galvanised body works is that if metal is exposed the coating sort of covers over the top and protects it whether or not the scratched area has broken the galvanised coating!

I plan to sort mine out when i come to sell the sei but im not doin it now just in case it happens again!

I am a valeter for a car dealership and we often repair scratches using this method-
Using this method I have this week repaired a 2 inch scratch on a brand new MG ZS in metallic Ignition Blue in less than 20 mins.
Obtain a touch up kit from Fiat
Fill scratch with touch up paint until slightly proud of surface (may take 3 to 4 coats depending on the depth) either dry by leaving a couple of days or a hot air gun (dont blister the paintwork by holding it too close!)
Use 1200 grit wet and dry with water and soap to gently flatten the paint concentrating mainly on the new paint keep drying the area with a tissue or kitchen roll you should see the new paint stand out from the existing paint keep flating the paint untill the blob disappears and turns the surrounding paint a matt finish.
Apply lacquer to the area where touch up paint was applied leave for 2 days or dry with hot air gun as above,
Flat area with 1200 grit paper as above then use 2000 grit paper water and soap to obtain flat a matt finish.
Polish using circular motion with G3 compound (Dont use T cut as butter is rougher!!) until a shinny finish is obtained.
Apply a good wax then your scratch should be invisible.
It takes a lot of work but its cheaper than respraying the panels.
Please make sure you are careful using the sand paper as it easy to sand through your paint work try practicing on an iconspicuous area first.
Hope this helps.

Cool, thanks for the advice i bought a touch up kit from Fiat but they said i didn't need lacquer for my colour black only metallic. Anyway i was wondering do you need to use primer for a key scratch or not? Or does it not matter. Also how does the sanding bit work wont it ruin other bits next to the scratch i.e make them dull. Or do you just polish it back to normal. Do i just pop into B&Q for the grit paper needed?

You must be careful whilst sanding only try to sand the touch up paint. Tear a small square of the paper about 4 cm square then fold it in half and use the folded edge to sand the touch up paint only you will probably sand some of the original paint but try not to. The area will eventually go matt black in your case then compound the area with G3 to bring back the shine.
I doubt B&Q will have fine grade wet and dry so try Autopaint or a local motor factor.
I wouldnt bother using primer just build up using the touch up paint.

G3 is a bit corse I'd go for G4 then use a fine cutting polish like autoglym (purple label) then go over it again with normal wax. G3 won't bring it right back you need to wax afterwards to make it shiny, also on metallic colours you should use a lacquer pen as well! (y)
